I had the pleasure of talking to Shawn Doyle of the video podcast Jays on the Couch the other day. Great conversation about the Rays, the Rays stadium issues, and of course, Curveball at the Crossroads.
Shawn and I talked for a little over 50 minutes. There were some technical difficulties along the way and my video froze, but I think I am still a good listen, even if my face is frozen.
Check out the whole video below. The conversation on Curveball at the Crossroads starts at the 43 minute mark - just as I froze. But it went well.
All good media needs a good trailer. A video that gets the audience pumped, gets them so excited they will line around the block to buy tickets.
This is definitely true for books. A good book trailer makes watchers into readers. It makes people want to find the book and voraciously read page after page. A good trailer is a hook that brings the reader into the boat, sits them down, makes them comfortable, brews them some nice tea, and puts the book in their hands.
Of course my new novel Curveball at the Crossroads needed a good trailer. So I recruited my friends Patro Mabili of WMNF 88.5 Tampa and sports radio personality Steve Carney to put some of the book to sound. I then worked with my friend Bill McCardle of Xtra Medium Productions out of Largo, Florida to put the the video together. Each of these guys were pros and did amazing work.
I must say this trailer is one of the best book trailers I have ever seen. It might be better than the trailer for Field of Dreams. I think so. After all, it is my story.
At my first book signing I had the pleasure of talking with Mike Rickord on the St Pete Sports Connection. The St Pete Sports Connection is a remote sports show broadcast from Fergs every Saturday afternoon from 12 to 2pm and is broadcast on Sunshine 96.7FM.
Mike and I talked Curveball at the Crossroads, influences, baseball, pro wrestling, and other general sports topics. It was fun and it is possible I might be on again sometime.
Big thanks to Mike Rickord and the St Pete Sports Connection for having me on.
You can listen to a recording of the show here:
I had the pleasure of talking with Tampa Bay sports videocast Shooter and the Stache on Tuesday, Dec 9th. We talked about the Rays, the Rays stadium situation, and of course Curveball at the Crossroads.
I come on at the 35 minute mark.
By the way, their intro is awesome.
I am a graduate of the Florida State University Creative Writing Department. A few days ago, the department gave me and my book a shout-out on twitter!
Today I was on JP Peterson's sports talk show Tampa Bay 820AM/98.3FM to talk about the Rays, the Tampa Bay baseball stadium saga, and most importantly, Curveball at the Crossroads.
I have been on JP's show before and was glad he would have me back. Always good to talk to him.
If possible, I will try to have audio of the interview soon!
